Eileen & Tom Anderson

“We just grew up playing outside…all the time”

Eileen, 71, and Tom, 74, are born and bred Doonhamers. Tom told me how he and his friends would cause trouble on their stomping ground in Lincluden, but occasionally branched out to the town centre. He shared one of his biggest triumphs with me, when he stopped the Midsteeple clock hand and wrote his name on the back. Eileen, shared her memories of growing up on the Mill Brae. She told me about how she spent every day outside, even in winter. She would leave with a picnic in the morning, play all day and her mother wouldn’t see her until the evening when she was back for her dinner.
