Watch 2017 Carnival!

Watch the Highlights from the 2017 Burns Night Carnival!

Greta Stairmand

“I used to be frightened of Mrs McQuinny on St Michael’s Street, she sliced her finger off!”

Greta sat down with her family to talk about her own family in Dumfries. She lived in Brookfield and told us about her unique wartime experience- having a German prisoner-of-war working for her family. Greta worked in her family shop, Kennedys, and shared her memories of her days as a working woman.
