Hilda Short

“We took peashooters, and would shoot peas at folk. It was a good laugh”

Hilda sat with us in the Charnwood Lodge Day Centre. Born in Assembly Street, she told us all the things she would do to cause trouble with her friends before being clipped on the lug by the local policeman. Hilda told us about how she tried to get to all the dances and would hitch a lift back. We asked her if she met any special men and she replied “Oh hell aye!”
