Joe Miller

“Poor wee Jo-Jo Miller”

Joe sat with me in the Dumfries Day Centre and told me about his life in Dumfries. He focused on his childhood years, when he lost his father in the war and had to help his mother. He told me how he was referred to as ‘poor wee Jo-Jo Miller’ because of his circumstances, but that meant the community around him gave him sweets and attention which he loved. He shared his memories of pawn shops, war time and his time as “poor wee Jo-Jo Miller”.
