Rural Social Club

“Binns was the heart of the town”

We visited the Rural Social Club in Collin at one of their meetings to chat to the history of Dumfries. We met Betty Paisley, Bob Watson, Pamela Walker, Jo MacQueen, Dan McKie, Barbara Johnstone and Jean Clark. We discussed the cafes in the town, including the Tartan grill, owned by one of the Dalton Dollys as well as the shops and factories that used to operate. Binns was favoured by everyone in the discussion and was described as the heart of the town.
